British songstress Ellie Goulding is set to perform at tomorrow’s royal wedding reception.
The Starry Eyed singer received a personal invite from Prince William and Kate Middleton, asking her to perform at the after-dinner party at Buckingham Palace, reports the Daily Mail.
A source told the paper: “Ellie was knocked off her feet when she received the invitation to perform for Prince William and Kate – and was so hugely honoured when they said they were both big fans of her music.”
“She still can’t quite believe that she will perform for the Royal newlyweds, all the young Royal guests and their friends, it hasn’t sunk in yet.”
Goulding is rumoured to play a medley of her chart-topping hits, as well as her rendition of Elton John’s Your Song.
Earlier this month, rumours were rife that Beyonce and Jay-Z were invited to perform.
Has Ellie’s appointment shafted bootylicious Beyonce and her potato-faced hubby off the bill? We’ll just have to wait until tomorrow to find out for sure!
Poor old Lily Allen. We finally got ourselves a smart, cute popstar who was willing to speak her mind and not shy away from the debate and everyone went and scared her off. She was one of those rare celebrities who was candid and open, thanks to her internet presence. Now, she’s likening it all to her alcohol and drug dependency of the past. The singer stopped using her Facebook, MySpace and Twitter pages in September after posting a message that she had become a “neo-Luddite”.
Allen told the Evening Standard: “I don’t own a BlackBerry. Or a computer. I don’t even read emails.
“I was using the internet in a really destructive way. In the same way as I guess alcoholics and drug addicts have to stop taking drugs or alcohol to see how negatively it affects them.”
She added: “I had to stop using the internet completely. If I was feeling bad, I’d look for negative things people were writing about me to substantiate how I was feeling: ‘Look, I am fat and ugly…’
“I’d write something silly with totally the best intentions of it just being for fans to read and it would end up looking like I was trying to get in The Sun newspaper. So, this year, I’m not putting out useless information that people can use against me.”
Apprentice pair Kate Walsh and Philip Taylor have got engaged according to reports. According to The Sun, Walsh has been spotted wearing a £3,000 ring from London’s Hatton Garden. “They are very much in love and this was always more than a work fling. Neither of them wanted to split,” said a source. “Phil had been known as a womaniser but Kate has ended all that. He loves her to bits and is smitten.”
The couple fell for each other while filming the BBC reality show and rekindled their relationship when the series aired. It was confirmed last month that Walsh had landed a presenting job on GMTV to talk about women’s office fashion.
Peter Andre has given his first television interview since splitting from Katie Price, during an emotional appearance on This Morning. He told presenters Phillip Schofield and Fern Britton that he would never badmouth his estranged wife for the sake of their children. “The kids are going to grow up and I know they are going to look back at everything. I don’t want them to look back and ask ‘Dad why did you say that?'” the Daily Mail quotes him as saying. “I hope people don’t think that [the miscarriage] was behind our split. There’s a lot of reasons why we split up. What’s done is done. You’ve got to move on. The kids are everything to me.
“I want to speak, but I have got to think about the long term – but it can be hard. When you don’t speak you only hear one side of the story.” He went on to say that the couple could not complain about the public interest in their private life, saying: “It’s our fault… I know I’m going to make mistakes. Sharing your life so publicly can be a mistake.”
Lily Allen, gloriously outspoken and straightforward, has had a pop at gossip unber-bitch Perez Hilton after the celebrity blogger posted about her recent topless photoshoot. Allen features in the current issue of i-D magazine for a series of images styled by Kate Moss. Hilton said: “Lily Allen wants to be seen as a respected musician. She kinds contradicts herself doesn’t she? More known for her outrageous behaviour than her music, Lilly Allen continues with her ‘antics’. The hard-pAArtying Brit goes topless in the new issue of i-D magazine. Why? Well, why not??? We’ve already seen ’em before – a lot!”
On her Twitter page, Allen responded: “Just saw Perez’s views on my topless i-D pics. It may come as a surprise but I’m completely comfortable with getting them out. Tits are tits. I wish mine were as big as Perez Hilton’s though.”
Harry Potter star Jamie Waylett has been charged with illegally growing cannabis plants, just minutes before the premiere of the latest film. Waylett, who plays bully Vincent Crabbe in the movies, will appear in a London court on July 16 for sentencing and could face up to 14 years in jail.
A police statement said that the actor was “charged with producing a Class B drug, namely 10 plants of cannabis”. The 19-year-old actor was arrested in April this year when police pulled him over in Westminster and found 11 bags of the drug in his car. They later found over £2,000 worth of cannabis plants in his London home.
Prince Harry has been secretly dating Natalie Imbruglia, according to reports. Harry, who split from long-term girlfriend Chelsy Davy recently, was spotted with the former Neighbours actress at a Windsor cafe. A source told Grazia: “He likes it there because it’s very low-key. They’re very conscious that people will see them together.” The pair were later seen together backstage at a festival, where one onlooker said: “Harry was naughty around Natalie. He pinched her bum and laughed.” The witness added: “When The Killers performed, Harry and Natalie both watched from the side of the stage. He couldn’t stop hugging her, kissing her on the cheek and putting his arms around her.” The prince and the ‘Torn’ singer have apparently been “in regular contact” since they met at her birthday party in February. “It’s no secret Harry has always fancied Natalie,” said the insider. “They have a laugh when they’re together and he thinks she’s gorgeous.”
Girls Aloud star Sarah Harding has said that she would love to work on a comedy project. The singer claimed that she is looking to work on a variety of acting jobs to prove that she has what it takes to make the move from music to TV and films. “People like to see you as just one thing and find it hard to take if you try something different – they say ‘Why’s she doing that?'” she told The Sun. “So I have to be clever about what I choose and take it one step at a time.”
She continued: “I’d love to play a fiery, strong, independent woman and appear in a psychological thriller or perhaps a comedy – I adore making people laugh.”
Harding also claimed that there is a “stigma” to popstars who want to break into the acting industry. “I’m working my way into acting gradually – I don’t want people to think that I’m just swanning in there,” she joked.
Harding will star alongside Dominic Cooper in BBC Two credit crunch drama Freefall on July 14.
Tabloid reports have claimed that Simon Cowell will quit The X Factor after the current series. According to The Mirror, Cowell will leave the show to focus on his rumoured new entertainment company with Topshop owner Sir Philip Green. Cheryl Cole, Louis Walsh and Dannii Minogue will apparently remain on the judging panel. Cowell’s contract with ITV ends in December and he is allegedly reviewing his future TV plans. The music mogul reportedly wants to keep his post on fellow ITV1 series Britain’s Got Talent. “He has found X Factor increasingly draining and it leaves him little time for serious business,” said a source. “Now he’s decided this will be his last series and he’s moving on. In future, he will have a more overseeing role.”
Peter Andre, who recently split from wife Katie Price/Jordan, has insisted that there is “nothing going on” romantically between him and Chantelle Houghton. The pair have been linked by the tabloid press after Houghton attended a number of the same events as the singer. Reports claimed that they met at Mo*vida nightclub last Thursday, while Houghton was reportedly in attendance at Andre’s Surrey home yesterday for his daughter Princess Tiaamii’s second birthday. However, via Twitter, Andre said: the Celebrity Big Brother winner was “a good friend”. “Just to let you know that there is nothing going on with me and Chantelle 1000 million percent,” he wrote. “She is becoming a good friend. Same management.” He added: “My head hasn’t even been able to think of anyone else. Kids and work, that’s it for now. Thought I’d set the record straight.”
